Ian: Just back again from Baja California, Mexico and it was hell . . . cruising one of the richest seas on earth aboard Searcher, encountering fabulous whales and vast schools of dolphins, tropical warmth, calm waters, great company, great boat, fantastic food . . .
Dylan: Ok, ok! But did you see the big one - a mighty Blue Whale?
Ian: Nope . . . we saw thirty! It’s the place where BBC Planet Earth filmed them, and there are also 6 of the largest 10 whales on the planet including Fin, Bryde’s, Minke, need I go on?
Dylan: I’m beginning to feel faint. What else?
Ian: Patting 40ft-long friendly Gray Whales and their calves as they rubbed against the side of small skiff.
Dylan: Could there possibly be other highlights?!
Ian: Snorkelling with sealions, walking amongst 20-metre Cardon Cacti, having a beach barbeque, watching boobies and tropicbirds overhead, and waking to singing Humpbacks in our cabins (via the ship’s hydrophone!).
Dylan: I hear it’s a difficult place to get to?
Ian: Not with us – fly to San Diego where we’ve again chartered the fab boat Searcher to cruise there. The crew are great and help to make this one of life’s ultimate experiences.
Dylan: I’m going for a lie down.
This holiday is always a ‘trip of a lifetime’ and we can’t recommend the ‘Searcher’ and skipper Art Taylor highly enough - it’s Ian’s sixth time guiding on this 95-foot boat - with state-of-the-art electronics, great observation decks, a dining salon, 14 air-conditioned cabins and 4 bathrooms. Throughout we’ll be lavished with delicious food and drink prepared by the chef and using aluminium skiffs, there’ll be lots of island landings.
Your booking is direct with Searcher Natural History Tours, and if you wish you can fly out with Ian or Dylan of Planet Whale who will be your guide(s), will advise with your travel arrangements and will be able to handle any of your enquiries.
In addition, for each booking we make a financial contribution to protect the local, endangered Vaquita porpoise, plus we ensure that your holiday is carbon neutral. If you do just one whale and dolphin trip, do this one - it’s the ultimate experience.
