Cabo's only dedicated whale watching company, Whale Watch Cabo is a small operation managed and staffed by english speaking Marine Biologists, and Whale Naturalists. Our licensed tours feature small groups, our philosophy is non-invasive in our approach to encountering whales, there is always a Photo Pro on board to assist our clients in getting the best photos or to capture your trips memories for you.

Whale Watch Cabo offers two tour options for whale watching in Cabo San Lucas. Located in Cabo San Lucas Marina we have regularly scheduled 2.5 hour small group and Private Boat whale watching tours departing 3 times per day from the Cabo San Lucas Marina.

From December to mid April our local Cabo San Lucas small group/private whale watching tours are focused on encountering Humpback and Gray Whales. Our small group Cabo San Lucas whale watching tours are limited to 10 guests per boat to ensure all of our guests a great viewing opportunity.

We also offer private boat Cabo San Lucas whale watching tours. These are very reasonably priced and popular with families, groups of friends and guests who take whale photography seriously.

The predominant species we encounter in Cabo San Lucas is the Humpback who have returned to their birthing/mating grounds for the winter. We encounter adult, juvenile and baby Humpbacks. The second most commonly encountered species is the Gray Whale. We encounter adult and juvenile Gray Whales. Occasionally we also encounter: Sperm, Blue, Brydes and Fin Whales, Orca, Bottlenose Dolphin, Common Dolphin and False Orcas.

Typically on these tours we also visit the sea lion colony, the sea birds nesting areas, view the Arch of Cabo San Lucas and stop over some of the Marine Park reefs to view reef fish and corals through our boats glass bottom ports. Often we also encounter; Sea Turtles, leaping Manta Rays, Marlin and other pelagic species.

Times and prices

Cabo San Lucas Whale Watching Tours - December through April depart the IGY Marina, Dock LMN in Cabo San Lucas at 8:15am, 11:30am, and 2:45 pm. Tour price for adults is $89 USD pp. book online and save 20%.

Private boat Cabo San Lucas whale watching tours are also available with prices starting at $295 for 2 guests. Typically these tours are offered at the same departure times and tour lengths, but we can customize private boat tours in Cabo San Lucas to your preference.

About our skippers and naturalist guides

Our guides are all fluent English and Spanish speaking Marine Biologists and Photographers. We aim for fun, informative small group tours with a non-invasive approach to encountering whales. Our staff of guides has a combined 40+ years of experience leading marine wildlife encounter tours. Our staff are also uniquely qualified for, and actively collecting data on the whales we encounter on our tours - to assist in local conservation efforts like RABEN and collecting images for the Los Cabos Humpback Whale ID Project. Our Cabo San Lucas tours include a visit to some of the Marine Park sites and we see; California Sea Lion Colony, Sea Bird Nesting areas, plus view the tropical reef fish & corals through our glass bottom ports. Occasionally we also encounter; Sperm Whale, Blue Whale, Brydes Whale, Fin Whale, Orca, False Killer Whale, Pilot Whale, Bottlenose Dolphin, and Common Dolphin. Additionally we also encounter Sea Turtles, leaping Manta rays and pelagic sharks/fish like Mako Sharks and Striped Marlin.
