Cabo's only dedicated whale watching company, Whale Watch Cabo is a small operation managed and staffed by english speaking Marine Biologists, and Whale Naturalists. Our licensed tours feature small groups, our philosophy is non-invasive in our approach to encountering whales, there is always a Photo Pro on board to assist our clients in getting the best photos or to capture your trips memories for you.
Whale Watch Cabo offers tours to 2 different locations for whale watching in the Mexican Baja. Located in Cabo San Lucas we have regularly scheduled 2.5 hour small group/private whale watching tours departing 3 times per day from the Cabo San Lucas Marina and one day roundtrip flight/van tours departing from your Cabo San Lucas/Los Cabos Resort to Magdalena Bay.
From December to mid April our local Cabo San Lucas small group/private whale watching tours are focused on encountering Humpback and Gray Whales. Our small group Cabo San Lucas whale watching tours are limited to 10 guests per boat to ensure all of our guests a great viewing opportunity.
The predominant species we encounter in Cabo San Lucas is the Humpback who have returned to their birthing/mating grounds for the winter. We encounter adult, juvenile and baby Humpbacks. The second most commonly encountered species is the Gray Whale. We encounter adult and juvenile Gray Whales. Occasionally we also encounter: Sperm, Blue, Brydes and Fin Whales, Orca, Bottlenose Dolphin, Common Dolphin and False Orcas.
Typically on these tours we also visit the sea lion colony, the sea birds nesting areas, view the Arch of Cabo San Lucas and stop over some of the Marine Park reefs to view reef fish and corals through our boats glass bottom ports. Often we also encounter; Sea Turtles, leaping Manta Rays, Marlin and other pelagic species.
From late January through March our one day tours from Cabo San Lucas to whale watch Magdalena Bay offer our guests the opportunity to encounter mother and baby Gray Whales in their nursery grounds. We offer transportation for this tour via either a short flight or a longer private van service, both with roundtrip transportation from your Los Cabos Resort to Magdalena Bay.
This population of Gray Whales is the only one left on the planet, and has prospered from its protected status. After giving birth in the shallow lagoons (we do not enter the birthing lagoons) the mother and baby Gray Whales spend the remainder of the winter nursing and frolicking in the bays of the Baja near to Magdalena Bay.
These tours are very special, we are so priviledged to see the new born baby Gray whales and in such unique circumstances. Again we take a non-invasive approach, which has led to wonderful encounters. The mother and baby Gray Whales often approach our boat very closely. Expect up close and intimate viewing of baby Gray whales in a very serene environment.
The Baja, Cabo San Lucas, and Magdalena Bay are very special, unique and thrilling areas to go whale watching. Join Whale Watch Cabo and our staff of Marine Biologists & Whale Naturalists for small group, fun and informative whale watching.
