The Australian Whale Conservation Society is dedicated to cetacean conservation, education and research. The priorities of the Society are: the limitation, reduction and ultimate eliminate the direct killing of whales by humans; • minimisation of the indirect killing of whales by humans; • minimisation of the negative impact on whales caused by human activity; • minimisation of environmental damage and pollution which threatens or may potentially threaten the well being of whales. To these ends, the Society shall pursue, by peaceful means: • the abolition of whaling, in all its forms; • domestic and international whale protection and legislation issues, encouraging the support and participation of Government and the general public; • increased knowledge of whales and increased awareness of whale conservation issues amongst the general public; • support for whale research initiatives which are in keeping with the Society’s principles
